Paul didn't disappoint -He supplied me with exactly what I was after.and man they sound good! My old amplifier is transformed. I was after something specific - a matched quad of original MullardĮL84's from the Blackburn factory in England. Here is a comment published on an auction site here in NZ from a happy customer I sent a quad to recently. I have tested them for strength and listened to them in my 1960 Vintage Leak 20 amplifier to make sure the sound good, which they do. The Mullards have factory codes showing they are from 1960's and from the British and Dutch factories. Mullard EL 84 used, tested strong matched pairs. These rare types with brown base are used tubes that test strong and are available. It's direct equivalent of E元3 6A6G and CV type is 1438. The KT61 is widely used in output stage of radio or commonly in the Leak TL10 point one. High end value vintage tubes such as these MATCHED QUADS are becoming harder and harder to find.īRITISH KT61 OSRAM GEC. This tube has been considered by many to be as good and even better than famous Mullard F series E元4's.
These tubes were made in Japan and rival Mullard tubes as they both were manufactured by Philips who was the parent company to Mullard.
This tube is featured by its single halo getter, two screen grib cooling fins, a narrow black base, grey plates with three notches and raised ridges, and a seam centering the top of the tube.
